Ephesians Who we are in Christ Part 7

Ephesians – Who we are in Christ Part 7

Pastor Jim Huthmaker

Ephesians 5:9-17

Ephesians 5:18 Do not climb the fence and join the world, welcome them to join you. We as Christians should be a positive example to others.

Ephesians 5:19-26

Verse 22 – Wives submit to your husbands likewise husbands are to submit to Christ.

Submit or Submission – yielding, surrendering. To give over or yield to the power or authority of another. To subject to some kind of treatment or influence.

Marriage between a man and a woman is spoken of as a parallel to the relationship s between Jesus, the Bridegroom and His Bride, the Church. The Church submits to Christ like wives should submit to their husbands.

Men should love their wives in an everyday way by showing affection both verbally and physically. This will lead to a victorious marriage.

Verse 25 - Jesus loves us (the church) so much that He gave His life for it (us).

Verse 27 - Going back to the parallel - Jesus the bridegroom and His bride, the church. Jesus desires His church to be holy without blemish

Galatians 3:26-28 We are all children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:29-33

Apostle Paul is explaining that for a victorious marriage that a husband should love your wife and a wife should respect your husband. The mystery is Christ and His Church- bride of which Christian marriage is a human parallel.

Ephesians 6:1-3

It is right in the sight of the Lord to obey and honor your parents.

Do not rebel and come against authority.

It is a blessing and children will be blessed and enjoy a long life by submitting to their parents.

Verse 4 - Fathers do not lend your children with anger but be led by God in their training and teaching (instruction).

Verses 5 - 9 Servants obey your earthly masters (boss), just as you would obey Christ. We should ultimately do our work unto the Lord. What we set our hands to will prosper.

Employees should respect their employers.

Employers should respect their employees.

Respect and sincerity means a lot in relationships, just like our relationship with the Lord.
