Ephesians - Who we are in Christ Part 4

Ephesians - Who we are in Christ Part 4

Pastor Jim Huthmaker

Ephesians 3:2

Dispensation - Stewardship or dispensing. An example: Dispensing of medication. A dispensation (biblically) was a period of time during which God laid particular dispensational instructions to mankind.

Ephesians 3:2 If you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God…

In Exodus on Mount Sinai God spoke to Moses and gave him the law and Moses took the law down to the mountain and dispenses to the people (the nation of Israel). This is the dispensation of the law. Now 1500 years later we have the Apostle Paul and his Damascus road experience and our same God does something somewhat different.

Now God speaks to a different man, Paul. God reveals the doctrine of grace and Paul dispenses the doctrine of Grace to Gods people (the Gentiles).

Mount Sinai - Moses -The Law to Nation of Israel

Damascus Road - Paul - doctrine of Grace - to Gentiles

Ephesians 3:7-11

Verse 10 - This is a fact that the manifold wisdom of God is a privilege and opportunity to declare - preach, teach, lead by example and love all things through the church.

Verse 11 - We are able to do the things mentioned in verse 10 through what Jesus accomplished on the cross. This was (is) God’s eternal purpose, complete plan - not just a back up plan B because of the fall of man.

Ephesians 3:12-19

Verse 16 - That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His spirit in the inner man (heart, spirit).

Inner man (our spirit) to Holy Spirit, that is spirit to Spirit!

Examples of the power of the Holy Spirit:

Luke 4:1, Acts 1:8, Acts 10:38, 2 Timothy 1:7

Ephesians 3:20-21

God is able to do exceedingly abundantly (immeasurably) above all that we may ask or think. That power works in us!

If we limit God, we limit ourselves.

If we limit ourselves, we limit what God can do in and through us.

His power that is at work within us!

When we allow Him to work through us to Him be the glory.  Where? n His church!
